Owls Are Not trace relations between religious rituals, possession cults, pop and club dance music from the Northern Region of Malawi. The common tropes are reverberations of n'goma - the drum. The mix is sourced from radio shows, local studios and producers, field recordings. The last fifteen minutes contain a raw-processed recording of all-night-long ritual in which the leader of Owls took part. The ritual is part of the possession cult recently delegalised in Malawi, hence the names of the participants were not published However, the authors of the this electronic edit were given permission to present the recording.
